President’s Message

Hello everyone, and I hope you are having a great year so far. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve as your NCACES President! Over the last several years we have seen so much growth, connectivity, change, and a renewed interest in why we do what we do as counselors, counselor educators, supervisors, and servant leaders. I am constantly inspired by each of you, as you make a difference every day by being present for others. Please remember, however, that you cannot pour from an empty cup and that you must be able to be present for yourself. Please take time to care for you on purpose, as one of my former students would say. I love that phrase!

This year we have launched our new website, which offers us the opportunity to reach our membership through an improved level of connectivity, including highlighting award winners, Emerging Leaders, grant recipients, upcoming webinars, conferences, and election news…for this we are grateful!

I also am grateful to our board, including Dr. Victoria Kress (Past-President), Dr. Tonya Hammer (President-Elect), Dr. Jenna Alvarez (Secretary), Shellie Beeker (Graduate Student Representative), Dr. Matt Glowiak (Parliamentarian), Rachel Jacoby (Member-At-Large), and Dr. Charmayne Adams (Treasurer). Thank you to everyone for your service! We have just wrapped our 2022 NCACES Conference in Omaha (thank you to Conference Co-Chairs Dr. Beth Gilfillan and Dr. Amber Randolph for your amazing work!) and more webinars being scheduled for our membership, thanks to Laura Dunson Caputo and her fantastic Webinar Committee!

Thank you again for all you do…wishing you a safe and healthy winter and spring season. Stay tuned for new things to come and a renewed sense of purpose in the months to come!

Take good care,
Victoria Sepulveda, Ph.D., LPC, CSAC, NCC  /  NCACES President, 2022-23
