Emerging Leaders

We are pleased to announce the NCACES 2022-2023 Emerging Leaders. 

Tom Hegblom, Ph.D., LPC, LADC, NCC

Tom Hegblom, Ph.D., LPC, LADC, NCC, is a resident faculty member in the Integrated Behavioral Health and Addiction Counseling programs at the University of Minnesota.

In addition to teaching, he sees clients at a group private practice in Minneapolis and serves as the Legislative Chair for the Minnesota Counseling Association.

His research interests center on ethical considerations within the counseling field, postmodern counseling theories, culture and human diversity issues, expanding critical thinking among counselors, and developing the self-efficacy of counseling students.


Ezekiel Peebles III, LPCC-S (OH), NCC

Ezekiel Peebles III, LPCC-S (OH), NCC, is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at the Ohio State University. He is the Founder and Clinical Director of Key Counseling & Consultation, LLC, in Gahanna, Ohio.

His current research interests include masculinity, men’s issues, mental health, counselor identity, cultural competence, and social justice.


Ashley Muller

Ashley Muller is a third-year doctoral student in counseling at Oakland University. She works as a professional counselor in a group practice as well as coordinates the Internship for the master’s students.

Ashley is currently serving as the president of the Chi Sigma Iota chapter, for which she was the treasurer for two terms.

Her research interests focus on counselor-in-training empathy, mental health professional theoretical development, and phenomenological research methods.


Vanessa Sinclair

Vanessa Sinclair is a LPCC-S in the state of Ohio and is currently doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati.

She has nearly 10 years of clinical experience working with elementary-aged children and their families and is passionate about client advocacy, particularly within the foster care system.

Her research interests surround advocacy on many levels. She is currently preparing her dissertation research to study the experiences of counselors engaging in social justice advocacy with clients.


Andrea R. Cox, Ph.D., LPC

Andrea R. Cox, Ph.D., LPC, is an assistant professor of counselor education at Missouri Baptist University. Dr. Cox enjoys teaching courses where she can help students learn strategies and techniques for actively applying their clinical skills.

Her current research explores the relationship between pedagogy and learning outcomes at the collegiate level.
